The landscaper’s guide to creating a killer email signature

Are you tired of sending emails with a plain and boring signature that doesn't represent your landscaping business? Chances are you may even have tried to get one with your logo in it, but it turned out all funky and likely didn’t work on your phone and computer. You’re not alone. Getting a professional email signature is much trickier than it seems. That’s probably why studies show less than 4 out of 10 contractors have a professional email signature. Don’t be one of those businesses. If you’re looking to grow and scale to $1M, $2M, $3M and beyond, you’re going to need some basic foundational things and an email signature is definitely one of them.

Why should you care?

Branded email signatures are an easy, inexpensive way to make a great impression on your current and future customers. Chances are really great that you and/or your office manager send a ton of emails each week. Every one of those is an opportunity to reinforce your image, your quality, and your professionalism. If you are hoping to get projects, better accounts, and stand out from your competition, you need one. These kinds of details do not go unnoticed by Mrs. Jones.

So What Should you Include in Your Email Signature?

Step one here is to get the basics—your name, company name and logo, and contact info.  But push things forward if you’re hoping to push your business forward. Here’s the heavy hitters:

  1. Name and Title: Include your full name and any professional certifications you have. Yes, now is the time to include that NALP certification you have, or that award you won for “best patio” 2 years ago. This stuff matters.

  2. Company Name: Pretty self explanatory here.

  3. Contact Information: Make sure to include your phone number, cell phone number if you dare, business email address, and website URL.

  4. Social Media Links: Including links to your Facebook, Instagram, and/or LinkedIn helps to drive traffic and engagement. Plus it makes you appear professional.

  5. Logo/Picture: Including your company logo helps establish a stronger brand and trust with Mrs. Jones. Some people prefer a picture of themselves. This works well for creating a personal touch if that’s your thing.

  6. Call-to-Action Button: Including a button in your email signature, such as "schedule a consultation" or "visit our website," can help drive people to take the next step in the process with you. This is an optional feature to include, but you mindswell do it since it’s pretty easy and you’re already in the tool.

Okay, how do I actually create the email signature?

The tool you’re after is called an email signature generator. There are many of these sites available online, and good ones can help streamline the process. Many of them totally suck. There are two that don’t: Wisestamp and Newoldstamp. We aren’t affiliated with either so feel free to choose any program you want, but we know these two make things a whole lot easier for sure. Let’s drill down on using WiseStamp.

WiseStamp makes adding your information easy.

1- Go to the WiseStamp website here: https://www.wisestamp.com and click on the For Individuals’ button. Trust us, even if you have other people who need a signature, it’s best to start here.

2- Fill out your information, social account links, add your logo, adjust the colors to your logo colors, and choose a design you like.

3- Click ‘I’m done’.

Upgrade to the paid account to increase design quality and remove branding.

4- Sign up for the Pro plan so you can have access to the professional design templates and the WiseStamp branding. It’s less than $5/month and it makes everything more professional.

5- Install it: Now for the part that gets everyone—getting the signature you see on the screen to actually show up in your emails. WiseStamp ‘magically’ installs your new email signature on your computer if you use Gmail or Outlook to send and receive emails. Simply choose your program and it does the rest.

6- Sync it up: Remember, you need your signature to be consistent on all devices you email from—your computer, tablet, and phone. You will need to install it there as well. Follow the instructions step-by-step: they actually work. I know, amazing, right? Here’s the link: https://support.wisestamp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011062798-Add-your-WiseStamp-signature-to-iPhone

That’s It!

Alright, nice work. No more generic signatures with outdated fonts and no logos. You're now a landscape pro with a slick, attention-grabbing signature that screams "I’m a professional you can trust". In addition to making Mrs. Jones feel more at ease, we hope this also makes sending all those late night proposal emails just a little more fun.
